Oxford Women's Social Club is a nonprofit organization
and operates without officers, a board, or board
meetings. There is a treasurer who keeps a set of books.
Club founder Linda Grunewald oversees the monthly meetings and
finds volunteers to take over when she cannot be there.
She also publishes a monthly newsletter
and sends weekly updates by email.
Members suggest our activities and Linda places them on
our website calendar. Everyone is expected to
organize
or host at least one activity each year as a privilege of
membership or volunteer for a job behind the scenes.
There are on average 14 different activities to choose from each
month that take place during the daytime, evenings, and
weekends. Some things take place monthly, such as our
Restaurant Dinner Parties, Book Club, Gourmet Cooking Group,
Bunco, Dominoes, Pinochle, Hearts, Canasta, Texas Hold 'Em,
Mah-Jongg, and something we call Anything Goes Thursday with a
new activity each time.
We also have a group called Travel Mates. Instead of
booking trips for the entire club, this is a way to find one
or more members with your same travel interests and budget parameters
and then book trips with them on
your own. This have been very successful!
